Happy Riches Review
NetEnt has a massive catalog of hit games for sure, and many of them have withstood the test of time and aged like fine wine. It’s no wonder that they want to take advantage of this, and rebrand some of their best games for the asian market. We might as well let the cat out of the bag right away, as it’s no secret that Happy Riches is a reskin of NetEnt’s success game, Flowers. Well, at least you now have more options, but in the end we personally prefer the original game from the Swedish giant.
That being said, Happy Riches is a nicely done remake, and the symbols and visual presentation is colorful and neat. Still, the game looks a bit dated, which is probably intentional, and it comes with the exact same math model and features as its source of inspiration. Happy Riches slot plays out on 5 reels, 3 rows and 30 ways to win, and you can place bets between 30p and £75 per spin across all platforms and devices. The game flows smoothly on all mobiles and tablets, so it does not matter whether you play with your Android, iPhone or iPad.
The main attraction of the game is still the free spins bonus round, where you can win up to a staggering 15,000x your stake. This is a massive potential for sure, but you’ll also be dealing with a somewhat brutal math model and highly volatile gameplay here. Triggering the bonus round is no guarantee for bigger wins either, something we can vouch for after our 200 spins test run. You therefore need to thread somewhat carefully with this asian beauty, or it might just swallow you alive like a chinese dragon.

What symbols are there?
The first thing to note is that all the premium symbols can land as double symbols here. This means that you can form winning combinations with between 3 and 10 symbols (as a double symbol simply counts as 2 regular symbols). The golden dragon wild is the highest paying symbol by far, but it will not land as a double.
The low value royal symbols also cannot land as double symbols, and here is the paytable for Happy Riches slot:- Golden dragon wild - Pays 166x for 10 in a combo
- Waving cat - Pays 66x for 10 in a combo
- Koi fish - Pays 60x for 10 in a combo
- Chinese lantern - Pays 53x for 10 in a combo
- Green talisman - Pays 46.6x for 10 in a combo
- Orange - Pays 40x for 10 in a combo
- Royal symbols - Pays between 6.6x and 3.3x for 5 in a combo
What are the bonus features?
The base game does not come with all that much in terms of bonus features, and the wild symbol is really what you have to help you out here. The red/golden dragon wild can step in for all regular symbols to help your form winning combos.
However, it cannot step in for double symbols or for the game’s scatter free spins symbol. Of course, the double symbols can be considered a bonus feature too, but we’ve already covered them above. It’s really all about the bonus round here, so let’s jump right into it.
Free spins in Happy RichesThe scatter symbol comes with the word “free spin” in golden letters, so it’s hard to miss. You’ll see a gold ingot in the background, just to rub in how much value you can potentially get here. There are quite a few things to cover, even though the free spins feature itself is quite simple, so please bear with us.
First of all, the free spins symbol will give you a scatter win when you land between 3 and 8 on the same spin. Landing 8 scatters is possible because the scatter symbol can land as a double symbol also, just like the regular higher value symbols can. Landing 3 to 6 scatters pays 2x your stake, while landing 7 or 8 scatters pays 4x and 10x, respectively.
This gives you a decent kick-start to the round, and there are a couple of more things that will help you during the actual feature.
We almost forgot, but you need at least 4 scatters to trigger the bonus round, and you can get between 10 and 30 free spins depending on how many scatters and/or double scatter symbols you land.Unlike in the base game, the dragon wild can now land stacked 2 or 3 reel symbols in height. This means that fully stacked wild reels are possible here, and you’ll also benefit from a 3x multiplier boost on all wins during the free spins feature. You can also get extra spins by landing at least 4 scatters on the same free spin, and there is no limit as to how many times you pull this off.
How to play
Happy RichesThe game interface looks kind of dated, just like the game itself, really. Still, it’s a fairly standard NetEnt setup, and we’ll run through everything of importance here. If you are a new player, or have little experience with online slots, you might wanna pay attention. Experienced punters can probably skim through this section of the review, or skip it entirely.
Let’s start with the green “i” button you’ll see down to the left below the reels.
This takes you into the paytable, where you can check out the symbol values and read up on the bonus features. The paytable is not dynamic, which is per usual from this developer, and you need to divide each value by the 30 paylines to find the win per total stake (we’ve already done this for you further up in the review).Next, you can check out the small wrench icon down in the left-hand side corner, as this opens the game settings menu. Here you can toggle on/off the intro screen, as well as turning on Quick spin (which we always do) and tick off to use the spacebar as a spin button. The . icon takes you into the game rules, where all the formal information is found. Here you learn all about how to play Happy Riches slot, and also some stats are revealed.
Finally, you need to set your bet level between 1 and 5, as well as the coin value between 0.01 and 0.50. This gives you a bet range between 30p and £75 per spin, and you can see the actual cash value in small types right below the spin button.
The autoplay feature is classic NetEnt, and comes with between 10 and 1,000 autospins, as well as advanced options for when the feature shall stop automatically.Where to play Happy Riches?

The 200 Spins Happy Riches Experience
We have to admit that pure asian style games like this, and especially reskins aimed for that market, is not really our cup of tea. This is just our opinion and preference, and the reason is that it feels kind of recycled. We get why they are doing it, and we try to remain as unbiased as possible in the actual review, but the 200 spins test session is where we allow ourselves to become somewhat more subjective and personal.
After all, playing online slots is all about engagement and emotion, and you cannot truly enjoy the game if you remain totally detached. Anyway, we still looked forward to our session, as it’s been a while since we’ve played Flowers (the game Happy Riches is a remake of). The potential is massive here, so anything could literally happen.
Not being able to play with £1 per spin is annoying, but we went with £1.5 instead. The game took us by surprise by dishing out 3 free spins bonus rounds over the course of our first 100 spins. The first 2 times we won more or less insignificant amounts, but we racked up a decent 98x our stake in the third bonus round we triggered. Not a bad start, but we still only broke even, more or less at least.
The base game hands out plenty of dead spins, and our luck turned after our somewhat eventful beginning. We never triggered the bonus round again for our final 100 spins, but we had a few okay base game wins in an ocean of dead spins and minute wins. These few bigger wins were not enough to keep us afloat however, and we ended up with red numbers in our budget.
The game teases you a lot with 2 or 3 free spins symbols (you need 4 for the bonus round, remember), and it’s no wonder since it’s the only real bonus feature in Happy Riches. Our dream of a beginner’s luck super mega win was definitely crushed, but we cross our fingers that your first session on this game will be far better than ours was.
Review Summary
Flowers was a hit game from NetEnt in its time, and it’s still a popular game after all these years. It’s therefore no wonder NetEnt has decided to give it to their asian remake department, and launch it for a whole new audience. We prefer the original game however, as the visual presentation looks as dated here as the 2013 release. The main attraction is the bonus round with 3x multiplier and 15,000x max win potential, which alone makes the game worthwhile. If you enjoy simple, asian-themed and volatile games where the possibility to win big is ever-present, Happy Riches might just be for you.
Pros
- Double symbols for up to 10 in a combo
- Free spins with 3x multiplier and stacked wilds
- High volatility and 15,000x max win potential
Cons
- Re-skin of Flowers aimed at the asian market

Even though we prefer games aimed at the western market primarily, there are some good and solid asian-themed slots out there for sure. Here we will present you with some interesting options for games to check out, if you already enjoyed Happy Riches. We’ll start with the game it was based upon, as it’s only natural to pay some homage to it.
Flowers - might look somewhat dated, but there is a reason this game has remained so popular for so long. You can’t really argue with the test of time, and the different anthropomorphized flowers bring a lot more charm and aliveness to the table than the game at hand can muster with its generic asian symbols. Everything except the visuals and the theme is the same, so it’s up to you what you prefer.
Koi Princess - is a great example of an asian style slot we do love. It might not have the highest potential, but it comes jam packed with bonus features and charm. The manga/anime style princess winking at you with her Bambi eyes is enough to keep you going for a while here, and this game took the market by storm when it was first released. It’s still a rock solid title, and a must try for anime fans for sure.
Sakura Fortune - is centered around the beautiful princess Sakura, and she will appear fully or partially stacked on the reels in all her glory. Land 2 of her, and you can see the symbols nudge in place and trigger respins. This was the first time Quickspin introduced their innovative Achievement Engine, which means you can unlock different perks in-game. The potential is a bit meager, but the game is still well worth a shot if you enjoy asian beauties.
