Hyper Gold Review

Triple Edge has had a good run with their excellent Assassin Moon, and it seems that Gameburger wants to feed off of that game’s achieved popularity. Hyper Gold is a reskin job, and the title almost sounds like the HyperHold feature that defines both games. The streak respins feature is called Link&Win in this game though, and we really don’t need more names for this feature at this point.

Since the two slots are pretty much identical when it comes to features and the math model, it all boils down to which theme you prefer. The theme on offer here is a blend of casino and some kind of cosmic disco, and it’s pretty far from the high-stake spy drama from the original. The Link & Win jackpot feature is still solid though, and the 3x3 mega symbol bonus round comes with a very decent 12,500x potential.

The wild not only steps in for all regular pay symbols to help you form winning combos, it’s also the most valuable symbol in the game. It pays 2x, 20x or 500x your stake when you land 3, 4 or 5 on a payline, and wilds can expand 1 position upwards when they land.

The Win Booster feature can be turned on or off between spins, and it increases your stake by 2.5x. The upside is all the extra casino chip cash symbols this adds to the reel strips, which again increases your chances of triggering the Link & Win feature.

You need to land at least 6 casino chip cash symbols to trigger the Link & Win feature.

The triggering symbols become sticky, and you’re granted an initial 3 respins. Only blanks or new casino chips cash symbols will land, and all new cash symbols become sticky too. This resets the respins tally to 3 again, and the feature goes on until you either fill the screen with 15 cash symbols or run out of respins.

The casino chips land with cash prizes between 1.5x and 20x, and you can also land a Mini, Minor or Major Jackpot symbol. These pay 50x, 150x and 750x your stake, respectively, and all the cash symbol and jackpot values you win are summed up and paid as the feature ends. The Mega Jackpot can only be won by filling the screen with 15 cash symbols, and it’s worth 5,000x your stake.

You trigger the Bonus Round by landing 3 scatters anywhere in sight, and this awards an initial 1x scatter win.

You then get 10 free spins, and the 3 middle reels combine so you will only land 3x3 mega symbols there on each free spin. Landing a mega scatter retriggers the bonus round, and this gives you 10 new free spins.

Review Summary

Making a reskin of Triple Edge’s popular Assassin Moon seems a bit desperate, but unsavvy players might not notice. We also don’t really need yet another name for the same old Hold & Respins feature, but the Link & Win round (as it’s called here) comes with decent cash prize potentials and a solid 5,000x mega jackpot.

The 3x3 mega symbol in the middle during free spins is bound to create some tension. Not least since a screen full of wilds awards 12,500x your stake. The disco/casino theme works out pretty well, and it gives you a more classic alternative to the agent/spy drama from the original. We prefer Assassin Moon though, to be honest, but this reskin job might appeal to a certain player segment.
