Serengeti Gold Slot Review, Demo Play, Payout, Free Spins & Bonuses

Serengeti Gold is the 3rd slot in the JFTW (Microgaming) Streak Respins series. It plays out on 5 reels with 25 win ways, and this time there are no scatter wins up for grabs. Instead you get a HyperHold Respins feature with up to 2,500x jackpots, as well as a bonus round with up to 5x multipliers that can lead to 2,500x payouts.

Serengeti Gold Review

Comparing this release to the 2 previous installments in Just For The Win’s Gold series is only natural. However, Serengeti Gold seems to be a straight-up order from Microgaming, and not something JFTW would have come up with on their own. We could be mistaken, but this release is quite literally 10 steps back from the previous installment.

The max win has been reduced to only 2,500x (compared to 25,000x in Emerald Gold), and it’s a completely ordinary Streak Respins (HyperHold) slot with nothing sticking out to make it particularly attractive compared to many similar games out there. You get a bonus round with a multiplier also, but this is unusually unimaginative from this developer.

Serengeti Gold Slot - Reels Screen

Serengeti Gold slot Features

The lion wild steps in for all regular pay symbols, and it pays 20x your stake for 5 on a payline (or 500x your stake for a full screen). The HyperHold feature is central to the action, and it triggers when you land at least 6 golden money symbols on the same spin.

It’s a classic Streak Respins feature despite the fancy and trademarked name, and you start out with 3 respins. All the triggering money symbols become sticky on a new reel set, and you will now land only money symbols and blanks. Each new money symbol you land also becomes sticky, and this resets the respins tally to 3 again.

You can also land Mini or Major jackpot money symbols, and these award the corresponding jackpot worth 30x and 100x your stake, respectively.

Serengeti Gold Slot Gameplay

The HyperHold feature goes on until you run out of respins, or until you fill the screen with money symbols. This awards the 2,500x Mega Jackpot, as well as all the coin values (and smaller jackpots) that are present on the reels.

Serengeti Gold Slot - Bonus Wheel

The Free Spins scatter symbol can land on reels 1, 3 and 5 only, and 3 in sight triggers a spin on the Bonus Round Wheel. Here you’ll win between 10 and 25 free spins, as well as a multiplier of 2x, 3x or 5x. You can retrigger the feature by landing 3+ scatters, and this awards the same amount of spins that you got from the bonus wheel in the first place. A full screen of lion wilds pay up to 2,500x, depending on your multiplier.

The 200 Spins Serengeti Gold slot Experience

We had a decent 15x win in the base game, and after that the 3 and a half minute highlights video skips to the bonus round.

This happens at 0:49, and we also managed to trigger the HyperHold feature towards the end of the video. How much we got away with however, you’ll have to see for yourself.

Review Summary

Being the third release in JFTW’s Gold series, Serengeti Gold takes a somewhat unexpected turn. The scatter win feature that was at the core of the 2 previous games is long gone here, and the potential has been reduced by 10x compared to the previous installment. Going from 10,000x to 25,000x to - make sure you’re sitting down - 2,500x your stake seems very strange indeed, not least since the volatility remains high.

Looking past all that, Serengeti Gold is a pretty standard Streak Respins slot of the kind we’ve seen a lot of lately. You’ll need the 2,500x jackpot to truly win big during the feature, and this is also the bonus round max win. It’s hard to understand what Just For The Win has been thinking here, unless they’re simply fulfilling a run-of-the-mill Microgaming order.

Pros

  • HyperHold Streak Respins feature
  • Jackpot up to 2,500x your stake
  • Bonus round w/ up to 5x multiplier

Cons

  • Nothing sticks out to make this a unique experience
  • Beware of customizable RTP ranges

Western Gold - was the first release in JFTW’s Gold series, and it’s all about scatter wins that can land you a top prize worth 10,000x your stake. The HyperHold feature awards the same scatter prizes as the base game, but it plays out with 3 respins that reset per scatter you land.

Emerald Gold - is the Irish Luck-themed follow-up from Just For The Win, and this one comes with scatter prizes up to 25,000x your stake. Other than that, the features are the same as in the first scatter win release.

Jaguar Gold - is a jungle themed Streak Respins game from Skywind Group.
