Big Bad Beasts Slot Review, Demo Play, Payout, Free Spins & Bonuses

Big Bad Beasts is a do-over of Golden Rock Studios’ own Wild Predators, and it plays out on 5x3 reels with 5 paylines. Set in Sri Lanka, the game centers around 5 dangerous animals. These land as the premium symbols, and when they connect with a wild on reels 3, 4 or 5, you win 5 free spins with the possibility for retriggers. The volatility is high, and you can win up to 1,020x your stake.

Big Bad Beasts Review

We’ve seen plenty of video slots that revolve around dangerous jungle creatures, and Golden Rock’s Big Bad Beasts is hardly gonna rock anyone’s world. Instead of trying to do something brand new, or at least improve upon what was a rather unsuccessful effort last year, the budding developer has simply released a Wild Predators copycat.

The rather tame visual presentation is exactly the same, with all the same symbols and the same backdrop. The jungle drums soundtrack is rather monotonic, and it gets annoying after a while. Most players will probably quit long before that’s an issue however, as both the math model and the features are below par. The only real difference is the improved 96.55 % RTP, but that’s hardly enough to convince savvy players.

Big Bad Beasts Slot Features

The 5 predator premium symbols are worth 80x to 200x your stake for 5 on a payline, and wilds can land on reels 3, 4 and 5 to help you connect win lines. The wild does not hold any value of its own, but it substitutes for all regular pay symbols. In addition, you trigger the Bonus Round with 5 free spins when you land a premium predator win involving a wild.

The triggering win sum is on display up to the right, and the setting shifts from day to night.

If you land the special Buddha statue/head symbol that only lands in the bonus round, you get a payout corresponding to the triggering win. Each wild you land during the feature awards +1 extra spin, and you can retrigger the bonus round indefinitely the same way it was triggered in the first place.

The 200 Spins Big Bad Beasts Slot Experience

We grinded along in the base game at first, before we landed a decent win around the 1-minute mark. Right after that, we land a line win with 2 eagles and a wild, and this gave us a shot at the bonus round. The whole highlights video is only 2 minutes long this time, and you can check it all out by hitting the play button below.

Review Summary

We don’t expect an even stream of high quality releases from a relatively new and upcoming developer like Golden Rock, but doing a copycat job of their rather unmemorable Wild Predators is not exactly gonna take this studio to the next level now, is it. Where Book of Inti was innovative and offered real value to the genre, this “follow-up” release is as boring as the original was.

We’re not only talking about the bland visual presentation, and the somewhat awkward pace, but also about the math model and the features.

High volatility and a measly 1,020x potential is just not gonna cut it in this day and age, and the features are not exactly pulse-raising either. You’ll trigger 5 free spins here and there, but it usually doesn't amount to much. How could it, when most volatile beasts out there will eat this thing for breakfast in comparison. The 96.55 % RTP has been improved, but who cares. We don’t know what kind of target market Golden Rock has in mind with this release, but it’s gotta be a narrow segment for sure.

Pros

  • Wilds on reels 3, 4 and 5
  • Premium + wild wins = 5 free spins
  • Special symbol pays same as triggering spin
  • Indefinite retriggers and +1 spin per wild

Cons

  • High volatility and measly 1,020x potential
  • Copycat of Wild Predators (RTP improved)

If you appreciate Big Bad Beasts Slot you should also try:

Wild Predators - is the predecessor release from Golden Rock, and it comes with the same visuals and almost the same math model. The biggest difference is the 95.98 % RTP, and this original game is also all about triggering the 5 spins bonus round via premium plus wild wins.

Jungle Spirit: Call of the Wild - is a far better alternative from NetEnt, if you’re looking for a rumble with some dangerous beasts. The base game comes with 2 premium symbol expansion features, and you get to choose your beast in the bonus round. The volatility is medium, but you can win up to a solid 7,768x your stake.

Spirit of the Beast - is centered around wild animals you’ll typically find in North America, and this Native American-themed release comes with a randomly triggered Spirit Summoner that awards stacked premium symbol spins.

The bonus round comes with multiplier prizes you win by collecting stacks, and the top prize is worth 10,000x your stake.
