Legacy of Oz is a follow-up ‘Book of’ mechanic slot from Triple Edge Studios (Microgaming), and it plays out on 5 reels with 10 paylines. The Hyperspins feature allows for indefinite respins of individual reels (for a calculated price), and the bonus round comes with a randomly chosen expanding symbol. A new symbol is chosen per retrigger, and you can win up to 5,000x your stake from a single spin. Check out our full review below.

Legacy of Oz Review
Microgaming partner, Triple Edge Studios, has had great success with Book of Oz, and Legacy of Oz most definitely follows in the predecessor’s footsteps. You will be hard pressed to tell the difference at first, although the visual presentation has gone through somewhat of an upgrade. Some minor tweaks to the math model are worth mentioning, most notably the customizable RTP ranges, as well as a doubling of the max bet from £25 to £50 per spin.
The Hyperspins concept is the same as in the first game, but the now trademarked name was not coined back then. Spinning individual reels for a price can come in handy at times, but it’s also a slippery slope that can cost you dearly if you’re not careful. Being basically a remake of Book of Oz, Legacy of Oz has one big ace up its sleeve. You need only 2 scatters to retrigger the bonus round, which also gives you +1 extra expanding symbol. This might not seem like much of a change, but it certainly made a huge impact in our test session (see video below).

The Hyperspins feature allows you to spin individual reels as many times as you like, for an individually calculated price per spin.
This feature is only available in the base game however, and it can be somewhat useful if you land 1 scatter short of triggering the bonus round. Hyperspins with 2 book scatters present are not exactly cheap however, so it’s a feature to be somewhat careful with.Similar Slots:
You trigger the Bonus Round when you land 3+ book scatters anywhere in sight, and you get 8, 12 or 20 free spins for 3, 4 or 5 scatters, respectively. A symbol is randomly selected up front to be the special expanding symbol. The special symbol expands to award a win after the regular payouts, and it does not need to land adjacent or start from reel 1 to generate a win.
You can retrigger the free spins feature by landing 2 to 5 book scatters anywhere in view, and this awards 4, 8, 12 or 20 extra spins, respectively. You also get 1 additional special expanding symbol per retrigger.
If different special symbols land in sufficient numbers to create wins, they take turns expanding one after the other. The 200 Spins Legacy of Oz Slot Experience
We have an extraordinary highlights video lined up for you today. Not only because it’s 17 minutes long, but also because we managed to retrigger the bonus round so many times that almost all the symbols became special expanding symbols. The bonus round starts 2 minutes into the video, and it plays out for a full 15 minutes after that. Enjoy!
Review Summary
Triple Edge has been really cautious with this release, which is understandable in one way, since the predecessor, Book of Oz, was such a success. However, Legacy of Oz is basically the same game, but now with the trademarked Hyperspins concept in the title. This feature was also present in the predecessor installment, of course, but it was simply called a ‘Respin feature’ back then.
The biggest difference is that you only need 2 scatters to retrigger the bonus round, making it easier to rack up plenty of special expanding symbols. This certainly was the case in our test session, but don’t expect it to play out like that all the time. The ‘standard’ 5,000x max win has not been tampered with, but the highest default RTP is a tad below the original game.
Overall, a solid release that’s probably the best option between the two.Pros
- Unlimited Hyperspins (for a calculated price)
- Bonus round w/ chosen expanding symbol
- Get 1 new expanding symbol per retrigger
- Win up to 5,000x your stake
Cons
- Beware of customizable RTP ranges
If you love Legacy of Oz Slot you should also try:
Book of Oz - is the very popular predecessor release from Triple Edge Studios, and it comes with the same Hyperspin feature in the base game, just without the trademarked name. The bonus round is similar too, but you need 3 scatters to retrigger the feature here. The 96.31 % RTP is a tad higher though.
Sisters of Oz WowPot - is another installment in Triple Edge Studios’ Oz series, but this is not a ‘book slot’. You will benefit from stacked symbols that can combine into 3x4 jumbo blocks, and the bonus round comes with jumbo blocks on each spin, as well as a 2x multiplier. The max win is 3,600x your stake, but the WowPot seeds at £2 million.
Legacy of Dead - is Play’n Go’s follow-up to their mega success, Book of Dead, and it comes with the possibility of up to 9 expanding symbols in the bonus round. As in the game at hand, this happens via retriggers, but you need 3 scatters to retrigger the feature in this game.
