Dragons And Magic Review
It’s time to dust off the old wizard hat and dig up the magic wand from that magician set you bought years ago, but never used. Dragons and Magic slot from StakeLogic will put you in the mood for some spellbinding action, and it comes with a nice selection of features. You’ll need to turn on the Super Stake however, otherwise the game is quite imbalanced, as it does not have a single real bonus feature in the base game.
The Super Stake bet will cost you twice the price of a normal spin, but it’s definitely worth it in our experience. You can still spin the reels for only 40p if you want, and the 2 bonus features will trigger around every 32 spins on average. Up to £80 per spin is available for high rollers with the Super Stake active, and we benefited a lot from these 2 features in our 200 spins test run. In fact, they provided both a big win for us, and helped us trigger the free spins bonus round.
The free spins feature is where the game really lifts off the ground, and carries you to new heights (literally) with the reel expansion feature. You’ll land different dragon eggs that expand the reels where they land up to a 5x6 grid, and this gives you up to 7,776 paylines.
The volatility is quite high in this game, but wins up to 10,352x your stake is possible in the bonus round. Visually, Dragons and Magic is very pleasing, but it doesn’t really offer anything truly original. This is underscored by the somewhat uninspired and generic title, but the game itself is quite decent (with the Super Stake on, that is).Similar Slots:
What are the bonus features?
You’ll see a lot of the blinking Dragon Eye wild in this game, and it comes with a nice animation whenever it lands. It can land on any reel, and it will step in for all regular symbols to help you form winning combos. Sometimes the Dragon Eye wild will come with a multiplier value attached, and you can benefit from 2x, 5x and 10x multiplier wilds in this game.
If you land 5 wilds in a combo you get a 20x payout, and if you land multiple multiplier wilds their respective multiplier values will be combined (not multiplied). The Super Stake system is never the same for any Stakelogic game, which can be a bit confusing at times. It doubles your stake if you activate it, and you get 2 benefits for doing so. The Mystical Dragon Eye feature will trigger at random times, and turn a random amount of regular symbols into regular wilds or multiplier wilds.
There is also a Dragon Fireball feature that can trigger at random times with the Super Stake turned on. You’ll then see a bunch of fireballs hit random reel positions, and this turns all affected symbols into matching symbols. You can expect both of these Super Stake random features to be triggered on average once every 32 spins, as this is the stated hit frequency.
You can also gamble your winnings here if you wish, but you can also turn off the whole gamble feature if it bothers you too much. It’s nothing new to see here, but you can double or quadruple your winnings by guessing the correct card color or suit in a standard double or nothing fashion.
Free spins in Dragons and MagicThe glowing golden dragon egg is the scatter symbol in Dragons and Magic slot, and you need to land at least 3 anywhere on the same spin to trigger the free spins bonus round. You will get 10, 20 or 50 free spins when you land 3, 4 or 5 scatters respectively, and you’ll be introduced to 3 new and different colored dragon eggs. These eggs can land on reels 2, 3 and 4 during the free spins feature only.
Whenever you land either the green, blue or purple dragon egg, it will increase the height of the reel by 1 row.
You can get up to 3 extra rows this way, and 2 dragon eggs turn all symbols on the reel into wilds. If you land 3 dragon eggs, 2 adjacent reels will turn wild. Of course, the reel height will also be increased by landing 2 or 3 eggs, not only when you land 1.In addition, you can land more dragon egg scatters during the bonus round, and these will also increase the height of the reel up to a maximum of 6 rows. You can get 10, 20 or 50 more free spins by landing 3, 4 or 5 scatters on the same free spin. If all reels are increased to 6 rows, you’ll play with the maximum of 7,776 ways to win.
How to play
It’s not really as complicated to play Dragons and Magics as it might sound, and we’ll walk you through everything you need to know here. If you have played StakeLogic games before, you might wanna skim through this part, but there will be some useful nuggets here - even for experienced players.
First of all, you need to decide if you want to play with the Super Stake active, or not.
You activate it by clicking the golden sign below the spin button, and as we mentioned above, you get 2 randomly triggered reel modifiers with a hit frequency of 1 in 32 spins. In our view, there really is no reason to play without the Super Stake active, as you can still place bets as small as 40p per spin.Game workflowIt feels kind of half-cocked and amputated to play a game at less than maximum capacity, but ultimately each player needs to decide for themselves. You’ll find all you need in terms of menus to the left-hand side of the reels, and towards the middle is the Fast play icon. It turns from golden to white when active, and it increases the pace of the game somewhat.
The hamburger menu on top takes you into the paytable, where you can read all about the different features with nice and clarifying illustrations. You can also check out the symbol values, and these will update themselves according to your chosen total stake. The . icon takes you into the game rules, where all formal information is presented.
In the game settings (wrench icon) you can turn off the gamble feature and the intro screen, and also turn on/off game sounds and background music.
If you want to spin with the spacebar, this can also be switched on here. You can then choose your bet level between 20p and £40 without the Super Stake active, or between 40p and £80 with the Super Stake turned on.The autoplay feature is quite fancy here, and it comes with an impressive range of 5 to 2,500 autospins (“eternal” autospins is also possible). You can turn on Turbo spins, which makes the autospins faster, and you can set your own win and loss limit. You can also make the autoplay feature stop whenever you trigger a bonus feature. That’s it, you are now ready to rumble with the dragons and the sorcerer.

The 200 Spins Dragons and Magic Experience
If you have any doubt whether or not to activate the Super Stake feature, please allow us to eradicate that once and for all here. Without the 2 extra features this gave us, we would hardly have anything to write about here. More or less everything of significance that occured in our 200 spins test run, happened because of the Dragon Fireball and the Mystical Dragon Eye feature.
In fact, the Super Stake paid off from the get-go, as the Dragon Fireballs bombarded the reels on the very first spin and turned 3 symbols into dragon egg scatters. This triggered the free spins bonus round on the very first spin(!), but we won only 20.20x our stake in total with 3 of the rows extended a notch or two towards the end.
The pace of the game is decent on non-winning spins (with the Turbo switched on), but there is a very annoying pause whenever you land even the smallest of wins. We don’t really need to have every 0.5x and 1x win rubbed in our face for what seems like a 3-second eternity.
This is a minor detail perhaps, but over time it can be quite annoying.WinOur biggest win came from the Dragon Fireball feature, as a bunch of symbols turned into the highest value dragon symbol. The cluster of high value symbol transformation came at the exact right spot on the reels, and we landed an “insane win” of 288x our stake. We also had a smaller 24x win from the dragon symbol towards the end of our 200 spins session, but we never triggered the bonus round a second time.
Review Summary
The whole Super Stake thing is getting a bit weird with this game, as turning it off seems completely pointless. It will effectively strip away all excitement from the base game, and leave you with a hard-to-trigger bonus round. The visuals are well done here for sure, and the game has plenty of exciting moments when the 2 Super Stake features come around on a regular basis.
The expanding reels mechanic is not unheard of, and it has, in fact, been seen in plenty of other games in different variations. Still, it’s nicely done here, and it’s quite exciting to see how massive a reel setup you can build when you finally trigger the bonus round. Bigger wins can land also in the base game however, and a 10,352x max win potential is not shabby for a medium to high variance title.
Pros
- 2 random features (with Super Stake turned on)
- Free spins with expanding reels and wild reels
- Medium to high volatility and 10,352.1x max win potential
Cons
- RTP of 94.335 % is well below the industry average

Magic, alchemy and dragons are themes that have inspired countless fantasy books, movies, TV-series and slots. There is literally an ocean of similar games to choose from, so finding a new favorite can sometimes be a lengthy task. We have done our best to assist you here, and handpicked a few games we think you’ll enjoy if Dragons and Magic is your cup of tea.
Heroes Hunt Megaways - allows you to choose 1 of 3 characters as the game starts, and these are the Warrior, the Wizard and the Archer. Your choice determines which bonus feature you will benefit from, but you can also unlock the other characters/features by gaining experience points during the gameplay. The Megaways engine offers up to 46 656 paylines, and you can win up to 26,000x your stake here.
Wild Cauldron - is a visually pleasing Quickspin title with a very impressive 21,199x max win potential. You’re taken right into the Alchemist’s tower here, and you’ll see winning symbols accumulate on the bottom of the grid via the “reverse” Avalanche feature. You’ll also benefit from a progressive wild multiplier that can go as high as 20x in the game’s exciting bonus round.
Dragon Maiden - might have been a source of inspiration for Dragons and Magic, as it is somewhat similar. The Dragon scatter respins feature will help you trigger the bonus round here, and the free spins are played out on an extended reel set with 7,776 ways to win. Wins up to 5,000x is possible, but beware the draconian volatility you’ll be facing in this game.
